WALKING IN OUR SEASON OF DESTINY

by Dr. Michael McKinney

“To every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.” Eccl. 3:1

It is so difficult to explain what is on my heart as I study, pray and meditate on God’s word in preparation for messages this new year. All I can say is, “Get Ready!” We are all in for one gigantic spiritual ride of a lifetime as the earth readies itself for the coming of the King!

When the Messiah, the Christ Child, the babe in the manager, was to be born in Bethlehem, God orchestrated the nations and its ungodly leaders to order a national tax to be paid. Every man HAD to return to his home town to pay his fair share. As the people suffered under the unfair and untimely call to pay this heavy tax burden, God was getting ready to fulfill the greatest prophetic event in the history of man - the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Today, we are in the same scenario. We are awaiting for the return of the Messiah, the King, the Ruler of the Universe. And God is once again orchestrating the nations, the kings, godly and ungodly to prepare the way, so that everything that needs to be fulfilled prophetically will be done precisely and to the minute detail in completion of God’s grand design and purpose for the redemption of mankind, initiated before the world began.

Nothing happens by accident but by a divine purpose.

The calling of Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3 was his season of destiny. He could have said “no.” But He was obedient. He forsook all the comforts of his life in his home country to pursue the destiny that God had in mind for him. Because of his obedience, he was known as a friend of God and the father of many nations. Abraham walked in his season of destiny in obedient faith.

Moses could have relished a position in the King’s palace, feasting and indulging in all the pleasures of this world. But as he witnessed the suffering of God’s people, his people, under the cruel hand of the Pharoah, he could not. Because of his compassion for his people, he suffered greatly until that moment when God met him on the backside of the desert, calling out to him from a burning bush. At that moment, Moses turned towards the fire, hearing God’s voice calling and he said, “Here am I ” And Moses began to walk in his season of destiny.

He fulfilled his divine mission, the leading God’s people out of bondage. He spent forty years in the desert preparing God’s people for leadership and for spiritual warfare that would ultimately lead them to total victory. Although many young men were trained as leaders, there were only two whom God would approve, Caleb and a young man name Joshua because “they had a different spirit.” They were men of destiny.

Joshua picked up the mantle of leadership from Moses and he led God’s people into the Promised Land, conquering all enemies, occupying the land, restoring righteousness and worship of the one true God and finally he lead his nation into a season of peace.

We are entering a time of spiritual warfare and spiritual victory as never before! Our mission is the same. It has not changed. Jesus commanded the disciples in Mark 16:15-20, “Go ye into ALL the world, and preach the gospel to every living creature.” The results? “And, they went forth and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following.”

Abraham, Moses and Joshua ended well. They were obedient. They were faithful. Today, this is our time to walk in our season of destiny. And IF we too are obedient and faithful they will say of us as they did of the apostles in Acts 17:6, “These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also.”

Leadership Potential is in YOU

Hello, I'm Dr. Michael McKinney, President of Promise Christian University.  Each week, I meet with potential students who are interested in completing their earned degree in Ministry, Theology, Leadership, the Chaplaincy, Marketplace and Business, Christian Education and Christian Counseling.  Many of these potential candidates are in their middle years.  Some left education on the back burner to raise a family, or were involved in a family business or career that left no time to complete their earned degree.  Others were simply afraid that they would not be able to complete the courses so rather than fail, they just let opportunities pass by.

After 40 years in Ministry and 15 years in higher education, I know for sure, that if you have the passion and determination to "Do it" you will succeed.

In the Bible there are many success stories of individuals who were less than qualified by man's standards. But in God's eyes, He saw the potential of leadership and when that individual surrendered to God's plans and His purpose,  the hand of God was unfolded in their lives.

This is happening today in the 21st century.  God is still using ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things!

At Promise Christian University we have tremendous testimonies of how God used a housewife, a security guard, a pastor, a dentist, a nurse, a radical activist, a politician, an engineer, a scientist, an electrician, a laywer and even a 89 year old graduate to accomplish a mission for the Kingdom of God!

Promise Christian Live TV was the vision of our program director, Dudley Goff who was 78 years old at the time.  Today, Dudley (80 years young)  and his wife Raven (75 years young) are heading a new ministry, Israel Food Outreach and these two young people are sending tons of food to help the food banks in Israel 3-4 times a year!  WOW now that is God's divine destiny in action!

Leadership Potential is in YOU.  Tune in on Internet TV to watch Promise Christian Live and see the testimonies of men and women who are making a difference.  Not all are prominent.  Not all are celebrities.  But all are known in God's kingdom and they are making a difference all around the world.
